Waqf has played a very important role in the development of Muslims since the era of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and until the beginning of the 19th century. The waqf institution was created before the arrival of Islam. Nowadays, the waqf institution is an institution that has a framework which can help Muslims to have a better life. It is focused on various fields such as education, health, safety, business, facilities, shelter and food for the poorer, agricultural and industrial activities. Most of these institutions are funded by the government and private sector. This institution is intended to assist and support the community’s well-being (Ismail, 2013). Linguistically, cash waqf is when someone gives his property in the form of money, and the individual performs waqf according to the amount and delivers it to the beneficiaries (Khademolhoseini, 2013). In addition, cash waqf is one of the alternatives in Islam to develop the economy and reduce government spending on debt and budgets so that more development can be implemented for the sake of ummah (Haron et al., 2016). Besides, the benefit of cash waqf as a mechanism to alleviate poverty and boost the standard of living depends on Muslim awareness of cash waqf and its potential to fix economic and social problems.en_US
